Did Oscars host Neil Patrick Harris suffer an on-stage wardrobe malfunction?

Well, not exactly – but the host did strip down to his “tighty whiteys” as part of a gag sending up Michael Keaton in the film Birdman.

“Acting is a noble profession,” the funnyman told the audience, sporting nothing but his undies, much like Keaton’s washed up Birdman actor.

Earlier, the cameras followed Harris backstage where it found him with his red robe stuck in a locked door.

And then parroting Keaton’s antics in Birdman, the Oscars host begins to run for the stage in only his underwear.

In the movie, Keaton is forced to cross Time Square in his underwear after being locked out of a theatre during a sneaky smoke break.

Birdman has already taken out a swag of awards and is widely tipped to take best movie.
