Who is the NSW Ombudsman?
* An ombudsman is a watchdog or "citizen's defender" independent of the elected government and charged with watching over the public sector and some private agencies
* Bruce Barbour has been NSW Ombudsman since 2000

* Mr Barbour has conducted investigations involving complaints about the NSW Police, DoCS, RailCorp and other agencies
* Educated at Sydney's Scots College, Mr Barbour was previously a member of the Casino Control Authority and the Commonwealth Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
