* Chores at home and passive recreation like gardening or having a BBQ - 50 per cent

* Beach or pool - 29 per cent

* Sport and exercise - 21 per cent

THE SUNBURNT COUNTRY

* 11,405 new melanomas diagnosed every year

* 750,000 non-melanoma skin cancers treated every year

* Skin cancer accounts for about 80 per cent of all newly-diagnosed cancers

* Between 95 and 99 per cent of skin cancer is caused by sun exposure

PREVENTION

* Check sun protection times to find out when UV levels are three or above

* Wear clothing covering as much skin as possible

* Wear a broad brim or legionnaire hat

* Apply broad spectrum, water resistant SPF30+ sunscreen 20 minutes before going outdoors and every two hours after

* Seek shade

* Wear protective sunglasses
