What's good for the nation, by Alan Jones

IF ALAN JONES WAS RUNNING THE COUNTRY HE WOULD:

* Commission a report on common sense and forget about reports on competition policy and tax reform.

* Levy a drought tax to go exclusively to distressed farmers for food and transport, administered by John Howard and Paul Keating.

* Establish a judicial inquiry into ASADA, the AFL, the NRL, the Gillard government, "everybody who's brought sport to this infamous position".

* Direct the sports minister to reply to letters from young "victims" of ASADA about doping charges.

* Promise not to tax bank deposits.

* Cut the personal tax rates for workers aged over 65 to 15 per cent.

* Convince people of the need to increase GST to 15 per cent and get rid of exemptions - raising an extra $36 billion.

* Take from Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard their $180,000-a-year parliamentary pension.

* Ditch the $100 billion spend on the renewable energy target "to disfigure the environment and jack up the price of electricity".

* Reduce superannuation tax concessions for those in the top tax bracket.
