What retail stores will be reopening and when across Melbourne

Retailers are preparing to reopen their doors to Melbourne shoppers from midnight after more than two months of shut down.

Shoppers are expected to flood stores following months of online shopping and click and collect only.

However, there will still be limits on the number of people allowed in stores and venues at one time.

Face masks remain mandatory and people must maintain 1.5 metres from others.

Shoppers also must not travel outside of their 25km limit to attend stores.

Here are when some of the major retailers are set to reopen:

Kmart

Retail giant Kmart is among the retailers set to open tonight, with five large-scale stores in Melbourne including Burwood, Campbellfield, Fountain Gate, Belmont and Werribee to operate for 24 hours from midnight.

Managing director Ian Bailey previously told Today they would be ready to reopen as soon as the retail industry was given the green light to do so.

"A lot of us have put a great deal of effort in to making sure we have good physical distancing processes," Mr Bailey said.

"We have...the sneeze screens, the plastic dividers, we have enhanced cleaning programs.

"We have lots going on - as soon as we get the green light, we're ready."

All other stores will open from 8am tomorrow.

Spotlight

Retailer Spotlight will reopen its doors from 11.59pm across its metropolitan Melbourne stores and will trade through until 8pm tomorrow.

The participating stores include Bayswater, Box Hill, Cranbourne, Essendon, Fountain Gate, Frankston, Hoppers Crossing, Maribyrnong, Mentone, Preston, South Morang and Watergardens.

"We want to say a very big thank you to all Melburnians for staying the course and helping retail reopen as safely and as quickly as possible," CEO Quentin Gracanin said.

"We are thrilled to welcome back our new and loyal Spotlight customers who are looking to snap up a bargain and enjoy the space and the peace and quiet of a very late-night shopping experience tonight."

JB Hi Fi

Tech giant JB Hi Fi is set to reopen tomorrow, with staff returning to stores to prepare from today.

IKEA

IKEA will reopen its Melbourne stores on Wednesday.

Myer

Myer stores across metropolitan Melbourne stores will reopen tomorrow, according to the Myer website.

David Jones

David Jones stores in Victoria will reopen tomorrow, its website states.

Bunnings

All Bunnings stores in metropolitan Melbourne will reopen tomorrow to all customers.

"Our stores will be busier than usual during this time, so we thank customers in advance for their patience," Bunnings states on its website.

Bunnings is set to amend its trading hours to 6.30am to 9pm for at least the first two weeks of Melbourne stores reopening.

Big W

Melbourne stores will reopen tomorrow at 9am.

Target

Target will reopen its Melbourne stores tomorrow at 9am.
