What Labor's Anthony Albanese is promising
WHAT IS ANTHONY ALBANESE PROMISING?
* A future Labor government will establish a new independent agency called Jobs and Skills Australia. It will be tasked with improving outcomes in the vocational education and training sector, and strengthening workforce planning. The legislated organisation will look at workforce and skills analysis, emerging and growing industries, young and over-55 workers and the adequacy of the TAFE system.
* Labor will hold a "creative economy" summit in the first half of 2020. It will bring together people from design, production and the visual arts.
* Labor has recommitted to a pre-election policy of establishing a National Centre of AI Excellence. The centre would be tasked with driving investment in artificial intelligence.
* Over the next few months, Labor will examine new forms of worker protections, which can be tailored to people working in the "gig" economy such as Uber drivers. Portable entitlements are one area being explored.
