There's a wet week ahead for Perth with a cold front set to cross the south-west of the country tomorrow.

Weatherzone reports the front will bring "severe thunderstorms, showers, and locally heavy rainfall, followed by a cold airmass".

The weather service said up to 80mm of rain was expected over the south-west, with up to 40mm in Perth, on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast high chances of rain in the Western Australia capital for tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Top temperatures are set to dip below 20 degrees, with lows down to 8 degrees on Thursday.

Weatherzone said Perth was likely to see its third consecutive month of above-average rainfall, with 110.8mm received so far in August.

The long-term August average is 122.7mm.

"A cold airmass associated with a high-pressure system will ease the showers from Thursday and bring chilly mornings late next week," Weatherzone said.
