Ten-metre swells, 130km/h winds as Perth reels amid storm

Damaging winds and heavy rain are still battering parts of Western Australia as a once-in-a-year storm continues to make landfall.

The storm is expected to last through to Wednesday, lashing Perth and the state's south-west as far north as Geraldton.

A severe weather warning for damaging winds remains in place.

Yesterday and overnight there gusts of more than 100km/h, with more expected through today.

Cape Leeuwin recorded a 137km/h wind gust at 10.02pm overnight.

Sea swells have reached a two-year high of 10 metres.

It's expected waves will reach about seven metres today.

Tides are also likely to be higher than previously forecast.

The affected area is also set to receive half its annual rainfall during the three-day storm.

Sheep graziers have even been warned about potential stock loss, with lambs particularly vulnerable to the cold and severe weather conditions.
