Dangerous drivers caught risking lives on Sydney's busiest roads
Motorists have been caught risking their lives on some of Sydney's busiest motorways.
One thousand cameras are about to be watching every inch of Sydney's Westconnex motorway network from a new state-of-the-art control centre at St Peters in the Inner West.
Cameras have already caught a range of dangerous activities, including a cyclist riding against traffic and dodging trucks on the M5, a barefoot driver darting onto the road to retrieve something and a driver reversing down an M8 off-ramp.

It's risky behaviour like this the Transurban control centre will be monitoring on the 22 kilometres of tunnel and 15 kilometres of open road.
9News was given an exclusive look at the control room, which will support the motorway team to respond to critical incidents, intervene in unsafe behaviour and reduce delays.
"That means for these critical incidents we can respond quickly and make sure disruption is prevented before it happens," Roads Minister Natalie Ward said.

"We've seen with these incidents a number of people taking their lives into their own hands."
There's a six-minute response time from the control centre, which boasts Australia's largest screen.
It will be up and running when the next stage of Westconnex opens in 2023, when twin 7.5-kilometre tunnels between the M4 in Haberfield and M8 in St Peters are revealed.
