Woman found dead inside Melbourne home

A crime scene has been established after the discovery of a woman's body inside a Melbourne home.

9NEWS understands a 69-year-old woman was found deceased at a Werribee property located on Taworri Crescent at 7.30am.

A 38-year-old man, believed to be the woman's son,  is currently assisting detectives with their investigation.

Today he was being questioned by detectives in the back seat of a squad car parked near the home where the body was found.

Detectives have since collected CCTV from a premises across the road from the home and have been searching bins along the street.

More than 10 hours after the discovery of the woman's body however, the Coroner had still not arrived on the scene.

While the official cause of death is yet to be identified, it is believed the woman sustained multiple stab wounds.

A family vehicle has also been towed away from the house.
