Vigil held for slain Gold Coast mother Wendy Sleeman

Loved ones, strangers and a Gold Coast mother's pet dog have gathered to farewell her, days after her body was found in a car.

At least 100 people gathered not too far from Wendy Sleeman's home in Elanora today in an outpouring of grief.

Her family, friends and much-loved Labrador were all there but a number of complete strangers also made the effort to pay their respects.

Detectives found her body in the boot of a car in the Brisbane suburb of Windsor, a tragic end to a days-long missing persons investigation.

Sleeman's son, 30-year-old Slade Murdok, is accused of kidnapping her.

He was arrested on Wednesday night and later charged over her alleged disappearance.
