NSW wedding celebrations could end in prison sentence for pink burnout driver

A newly-married couple in Sydney's south-west have marked their wedding by putting on a noisy and incredibly dangerous spectacle that could land the driver behind bars.

Video of a driver performing burnouts that spewed thick clouds of pink smoke was briefly uploaded to Facebook at the weekend before being pulled down.

There were no helmets, no stunt coordinators and no safety cordons.

At any moment, the driver could have lost control of the silver car. Yet dozens of onlookers stood just metres away.

Someone who appears to be a member of the bridal party poses for photographs next to the car as another man pushes the back end of the vehicle to straighten up.

The video and the burnout goes for a minute before the car is driven away.

It is believed the rear tires are a special material that exude coloured smoke as they burn.

The incident occurred in Greenacre, in Sydney's south-west, though it is unclear when the actual wedding took place.

The driver's licence plate was clearly visible in the video and the driver could face dangerous driving charges, with the penalties including loss of licence for three years and up to nine months in jail.
