Cold and wet conditions expected to stick around until weekend
Australia should brace for a wet week as wild weather conditions batter the county.
Sydneysiders can expect no escape from the rain as a trough with onshore winds continues to generate coastal showers.
“Showers will ease and become a little less likely this evening before returning tomorrow morning along with powerful surf conditions,” a spokeswoman from the Bureau of Meteorology told nine.com.au.

“Wednesday has a medium chance of showers in the morning and afternoon, with the same expected for Thursday. It’s not until weekend that things will start to improve.”
A current hazardous surf warning is in place for the Coffs Coast, Macquarie Coast, Hunter Coast, Sydney Coast and Illawarra Coast.
“Surf and swell conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, boating, and swimming in the following areas,” explained the BoM.

Sydney’s rainfall comes as the wild weather that lashed Perth and the south west resulted in the wettest June in 14 years for the city.
The overnight storm front prompted more than a hundred calls to emergency services as almost 60 millimetres of rain was dumped on Perth in under 24 hours.
Bungendore Park in Bedfordale copped the most rainfall in the state with 77.2mm. South Perth saw 75 mm.
The weather will slightly improve in the region today with partly cloudy conditions and a slight chance of a light shower expected this afternoon.
Conditions will clear up until Wednesday when the rain is expected to return.
Meanwhile, Melbourne’s shivered through the coldest of the year and the coldest June day since 1985 overnight, with the cold weather remaining for Victoria this morning.
There was widespread frost for Mildura, Bendigo and Sale, with Ballarat also receiving some morning frost.
Areas of haze and patchy fog will remain across the state this morning before a sunny afternoon.
However, the sun will not bring too much warmth, with Melbourne not expected to reach past 16C all week.
In South Australia, there has been some light early frost this morning for Mount Gambier.
Showers are also expected for Port Lincoln, while it will be partly cloudy for Coober Pedy.
Queensland is also tipped for showers in the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, with wet conditions to stick around for the entire week.
