Warnings BP will destory life in the Bight

A traditional owner has warned the Great Australian Bight risks destruction if oil giant BP is allowed to drill in the area.

BP has applied to drill four exploration wells next year, with a decision pending from the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority.

Bunna Lawrie, who is concerned about the impact on whale species, told reporters in Canberra on Wednesday the bight is "a gift of life" and he cannot cannot let BP do what they are trying to.
