Man faces court as Wakeley church riot investigation continues

A man has appeared in court following an ongoing investigation into a riot that broke out after an alleged terror stabbing by a teenage boy at a Wakeley Church in Sydney's west last month.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man this morning after he attended Burwood Police Station.

He was charged him with riot, assault police officer during public disorder, intimidate police officer during public disorder, and two counts of destroy/damage property during public disorder.

There was a heavy police presence outside of the Wakeley Church on April 15.

He is the 18th person charged as part of an extensive ongoing investigation into the Wakeley public order incident on April 15.

The man appeared at Burwood Local today where he was granted conditional bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Monday 27 May 2024.

Police investigations are continuing.
