Two kinds of waffle makers are being recalled in Australia after dozens of people have reported being burnt by hot waffle mixture while using the machines in the US.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) published a recall notice calling back the PowerXL Model ESWM02 (5 inch) and Model ESWM03 (7 inch) Stuffed Wafflizer waffle makers, which were sold online and in stores between March and September last year.

The products were sold via Global Shop Direct, Australia Post retail outlets, TV Direct Stores and The Trading Post Newsagency.

"Hot pieces of waffle or stuffing may be expelled from the maker during use or upon opening the lid," the ACCC has warned.

Anyone who purchased either product is advised to stop using them immediately and to contact customerservice@globalshopdirect.com.au or 1300 137 598 to receive a latch adaptor repair kit.

The warning comes after the US Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled the same products following reports 44 people had been injured using them.
