Woman dies after running from burning Perth home with clothes on fire

A woman has died after fire tore through her home in Perth's south-east, with horrified neighbours reporting seeing her running from the house with her clothes alight.

Firefighters were called to the home on Lovegrove Court in Byford just before 10.30am today.

Neighbours attempted to douse the flames after they heard screaming but were unable to save the woman, who is believed to be the mother of a young child.

The woman died in the driveway of the home. 

"I was just sitting outside having a drink and a smoke and heard these two dreadful screams, then saw what looked like a car tyre on fire," neighbour Adriana Mostert told PerthNow.

"We have no clue what started it."

Six DFES crews attended the home and were able to extinguish the fire in around 20 minutes.

The fire is not believed to be suspicious.
