White powder on Virgin plane 'not drugs'

Passengers have been released from quarantine at Perth Airport after a mystery white powder was found on a Virgin charter plane from Onslow.

Emergency services were called to the airport just after 10am and passengers, mainly FIFO workers, were relocated to a quarantine area as a precautionary measure as the substance was tested.

A Virgin spokesman said testing continued but it had already been determined the substance was non-hazardous.

It was not drugs and could be something like protein powder, he said.
