Western Australia's new abortion laws come into effect
New abortion laws have come into effect in Western Australia, six months after they were announced.
The reform decriminalises abortion and makes it easier for women to have the procedure.

The number of health practitioners required to be involved in most abortion care is now reduced from two to one.
Ministerial approval for late-term abortions is no longer needed.

"These are really important reforms that will bring Western Australia more in line with other states and jurisdictions," Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson said.
Health practitioners are permitted to conscientiously object but must refer the patient on.
