WA youth prison staff suspended for drugs

Two custodial officers have been suspended from a WA youth prison over drugs.
The Department of Justice conducted targeted drug tests on the officers at Banksia Hill Detention Centre on June 17 and 19.
One officer returned a positive test for a prohibitive drug and the other also had his car searched.

WA Police has charged one officer with two counts of possessing a prohibited drug and he will appear in court in October.
Both officers have been suspended from duty and the matters are subject to an internal investigation by the professional standards division.
