WA school re-opens after families clash

A school in Western Australia's north has re-opened after a clash between two feuding Aboriginal families forced its closure.

Christ the King School in Lombadina, in the Kimberley region, was closed on Tuesday due to "ongoing issues within the local community", the Catholic Education Office of WA said.

"The closure of the school was a precautionary measure and at no time were staff or students at risk," a spokeswoman said.

"The school is working closely with community representatives and police on the issue."

Police confirmed two feuding families confronted each other as children were being dropped off on Tuesday morning.

"Contrary to some reports, there were no shots fired near the school yesterday," a spokesman told AAP on Wednesday.

Inquiries were continuing, he added.
