WA school in lockdown after gunman report

A primary school has temporarily been placed in lockdown as West Australian police investigate a report of a gunman in the area.

A police spokeswoman told AAP officers were continuing to investigate a report of a person with a firearm in Pinjarra, south of Perth, and the nearby Carcoola Primary School was locked down as a precaution.

An Education Department spokeswoman said there was never a gunman on school grounds, but students ate their lunch indoors before classes resumed as normal.
