A Perth child psychiatrist accused of using his phone to film a boy at a cinema urinal in Canada has given an undertaking not to work as a medical practitioner.

Aaron Voon, 41, was arrested at the West Edmonton Mall movie theatres on May 22 after the boy's father confronted him outside the toilets.

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency said on Thursday an undertaking had been made stating: "The registrant will not practise as a medical practitioner until approved to do so by the board."

Undertakings are legally binding agreements between a registered practitioner and the board.

Voon worked as a child psychiatrist at the Successful Development and Therapy Centre.

He is charged with possessing child pornography, making child pornography and voyeurism.

Voon was granted bail last week and cleared to return to Australia but must be back in court on June 16, Canada's CBC News reported at the time.
