A West Australian parliamentary officer has appeared in court charged with serious offences, including possessing a weapon.

Nigel Lake was suspended from his duties as clerk of the Legislative Council after he was arrested on February 17, having allegedly been caught in City Beach near his boss' house carrying a baseball bat and a disguise.

The 49-year-old has also been charged with unlawful use of a tracking device.

In the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, Lake's lawyer, Sam Vandongen, was granted an adjournment until April 30.
