Man charged after ute 'smashes into WA pub' leaving two injured

A man has been charged after he allegedly reversed his ute into a pub in Western Australia's south west, leaving a woman in a critical condition and another seriously injured.

Police allege the 33-year-old man had been in an altercation inside the pub earlier in the night in Collie which spilled outside the Crown Hotel Collie at about 11am on Thursday.

A statement from officers said the man then allegedly got into the Toyota Hilux and reversed, hitting two women and pinning them to the wall.

The women are understood to have been bystanders and got caught up in the chaos as they left the pub.

Two 19-year-old boys rendered assistance to the victims until ambulances arrived.

A 23-year-old woman was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital, where she had surgery yesterday morning and is still in intensive care.

Her friend, an 18-year-old woman, was taken to Bunbury Hospital and has since been discharged.

The man has been charged with three offences and is expected to appear in Bunbury Magistrates court later today.

"The driver of the vehicle left the scene but came to the Collie police station shortly thereafter where he was placed in custody," Det. Snr Sgt Jeramy Davies said yesterday.

"The incident is extremely serious and it's being treated extremely seriously. We have support here with us in the south west from the homicide squad in Perth and also our forensic experts."
