Man charged over Hayley Dodd murder denies killing teen

The convicted rapist serving time in a Queensland jail who has also been charged with the 1999 abduction and murder of West Australian teenager Hayley Dodd will fight the charges.

Francis John Wark, 59, has told his lawyer Darryl Ryan that he has "never killed anyone", The West Australian reports.

Mr Ryan says his client won't fight his extradition to WA to face trial and "wants to clear his name".

Attorney-General Michael Mischin said he was yet to receive a request from police to transfer Mr Wark to WA.

The 17-year-old went missing on July 29, 1999 as she walked along the remote North West Road in Badgingarra.

Police allege Wark abducted and murdered the girl.

Her body has never been found.

Wark lived at a property near where Hayley was last seen in Badgingarra, which he sold four months after she went missing.

He then moved to north Queensland.

The home was searched and excavated in 2013 as investigators searched for any sign of the girl.
