WA man admits murdering his teen partner

A man has admitted murdering his teenage partner in Western Australia after initially pleading not guilty to the charge.

Junior Fayiah Carlos, 27, had denied murdering 19-year-old Christine D'Cruz in Mandurah on New Year's Eve in 2017.

But he changed his plea on Thursday during a status conference in the West Australian Supreme Court, where he appeared via video link from prison.

The couple reportedly had a baby girl, who was just weeks old at the time of Ms D'Cruz's murder.

Carlos was remanded in custody and will face a sentencing hearing on October 31.
