WA Libs to farewell 'best ever' director

Western Australia's Liberal party is preparing to farewell its "best ever" state director.

Ben Morton has decided not to renew his contract, which expires at the end of August, after seven years in the role.

"It is widely acknowledged that he is probably the best state director the party has ever had," state president Norman Moore said.

"His successor will have big shoes to fill.

"However, I understand completely his reasons for wanting to seek new opportunities and challenges in the private sector."

In his first shot as the campaign director for the WA Liberals in 2008, the party secured victory.

Hailing from Wyong, NSW, Mr Morton will remain in WA, telling AAP he "loves the place".
