One-year-old boy dies after being hit by a car in Western Australia

A one-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a car on a Western Australian road.

Police confirmed a silver Holden Captiva was involved in a crash with the boy, who was walking on Nambi Road in Leonora, about 4.15pm yesterday.

The driver, a 59-year-old woman, was uninjured but the boy suffered life-threatening injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

The woman is being questioned by police.

It's unknown what direction the driver or the boy were travelling.

Major crash investigators are examining the scene and are appealing for any witnesses with information or vision to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.

Investigations remain ongoing.
