WA lawyer fronts court on firearm charges

A criminal lawyer facing serious weapons charges will no longer have to report to police as a condition of her bail.

Sanella Naumovski, who has run her own practice since March 2015, has been charged with possessing a firearm with circumstances of aggravation and possessing a gun or ammunition without a licence.

Naumovski appeared briefly in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday and was represented by John O'Connor, who requested the matter be adjourned until June 30 so she could receive legal advice.

Police opposed Mr O'Connor's request to delete a requirement for Naumovski to report to Mirrabooka Police Station, which was put in place by the charging officer.

"Those bail conditions remain in place for a specific reason," the police prosecutor said.

But magistrate Robert Young said the condition usually applied to an accused person who was considered a flight risk, so he had it removed.

Naumovski declined to comment as she left court.
