WA driver hit in chest by object

A woman went to a Perth suburban police station with an upper body injury after being hit by a projectile while driving.

The incident happened near the Bayswater police station and the woman arrived at the station about 2.45pm bleeding from her chest before being taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital.

The 24-year-old Yangebup woman's injuries are not life-threatening, police say.

She was in a car with a man when the incident happened and police are investigating whether the vehicle was driving on Whatley Crescent at the time.

Police say while the injuries are believed to be from a firearm, that has yet to be confirmed.
