WA police are investigating a suspected one-punch attack on a man who is in a critical condition after trying to break up a fight during Melbourne Cup celebrations.
Police say the man was socialising at a pub in coastal Kalbarri, north of Perth, when he approached two men who were fighting in the car park at about 6.40pm.
He was assaulted, fell to the ground, lost consciousness and was flown to Royal Perth Hospital.
