WA cop charged over off-duty assault

A Perth policeman has been charged over an assault allegedly committed against a teenager while he was off duty.
It is alleged that on July 18, the off-duty policeman became involved in a physical altercation with a 19-year-old man outside a bar in Midland, in Perth's east.
The victim received a serious eye injury and was taken to Swan District Hospital for treatment.

The 34-year-old policeman from the South East Metropolitan District has been charged with grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in the Midland Magistrates Court on August 8.
A police internal investigation is also being conducted.
