Bushfire threatening lives, homes in Western Australia
A blaze is threatening lives and homes in the West Australian shire of Gingin.
A bushfire emergency warning has been issued for people in Ocean Farms Estate in Lancelin where residents have been told they are in danger and need to act immediately to survive.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services says the bushfire, which was reported just before 4pm (WST), is out of control and unpredictable and it is too late to leave.
The bushfire, north of Perth, has been downgraded to a watch and act alert.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services says firefighters have contained the head of the fire.
"There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is approaching the area and conditions are changing," a DFES statement said.
