WA bushfire alert downgraded to advice

The alert level for a bushfire south of Perth has been downgraded to an advice as there is no longer a threat to lives and homes.

Firefighters have consolidated containment lines at the blaze near Meelon in the Shire of Murray, which police believe was sparked by a stolen car being torched on Monday.

Many homes and sheds in the area have been saved but some fencing has been lost and more than 1260 hectares have been burnt.
