WA boy wakes from coma after accident

A three-year-old boy has woken from an induced coma and is breathing on his own after he was hit by a ute while trying to cross a road in Western Australia's Mid West region.

Noah Archer was struck by the ute, which was travelling at low speed, on Saturday morning in Geraldton and suffered life-threatening head injuries.

He was later flown to Perth's Princess Margaret Hospital for Children to receive treatment.

His aunt Kate Najar posted a condition update on an online fundraising page on Wednesday morning, saying Noah was awake and moving a lot, but still needed to be held at times so he did not pull out his tubes.

"The MRI thankfully showed no spinal injury but he is still wearing a neck collar because of the swelling and soft tissue damage," she said.

"We received this wonderful news last night so hopefully by now he has opened his eyes and is continually improving!

"Please keep praying for our little Noah."

More than $4300 has been raised so far via the GoFundMe website to help the family.
