WA bikies charged over assault

Three bikies, including the president and vice-president of a West Australian chapter of the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang, have been charged over a violent assault.

A 27-year-old man was hospitalised after suffering serious injuries in the attack before midnight on June 10.

Police were flagged down at a service station in Warnbro and shown to the man sitting in a car, which was also damaged.

Police believe the assault was in relation to a dispute over the ownership of a vehicle.

Detectives issued search warrants in Perth's southern suburbs of Hammond Park, Waikiki and Rockingham on Thursday, including the main clubhouse of the Rockingham chapter of the Rebels bikies.

A 38-year-old man, who is the president of the Rockingham chapter of the Rebels, has been charged with grievous bodily harm and criminal damage.

A 28-year-old man, who is the vice-president of the same chapter, and a 32-year-old man were each charged with grievous bodily harm and stealing.

Police say investigations will continue into several items seized on Thursday, including pepper spray and what is believed to be human growth hormone.
