Vic man charged over $11m Ausdrill fraud

A Victorian man and a Perth woman have been charged after mining services company Ausdrill was defrauded of $11.1 million.

The company notified the ASX in April it had sacked an employee, who had authorised and concealed payments to an "unrelated invalid supplier" over eight years, and reported them to WA Police.

On Thursday, police said a 39-year-old Victorian man had engaged in "false billing offending or unsolicited office supply offending" and been charged with three offences including "gift or offer of secret commission to an agent".

A 35-year-old Perth woman was also charged, with police alleging she approved payment for office supplies in exchange for gift vouchers and electronic devices.

They say the supplies were sold at a significantly inflated cost and were never received.

She has been charged with fraud and is due to face Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday next week.

The man faced court on Thursday.
