Turnbull can't attend WA Lib launch

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull won't be attending the official election campaign launch for the WA Liberal party this weekend because he'll be attending a solemn event.

Premier Colin Barnett says it's unfortunate Mr Turnbull won't be at the launch but it is appropriate he will instead attend commemorations for the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Darwin, which killed 235 people.

"The place of the prime minister is to be at that significant commemoration as I will be at the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Broome, which happened a couple of weeks later and 90 people died there," Mr Barnett said on Thursday.
