The first pieces of the new $83 million Perth stadium bridge have arrived, reaching the next stage of its construction.

Weighing 30 tonnes and spanning 19 metres, the pieces travelled from Henderson to the Burswood Peninsula.

Over the next six weeks, 50 of the steel structures will be transported onto Perth roads.

Each piece will be assembled into three arches on site near Optus Stadium

The bridge is also set to be a major tourism draw card, with tourists offered the opportunity to climb up the 65-metre structure.

Stairs will be built in with a viewing platform on the top.

The project is set to go to tender soon.

The bridge’s main use is to be a crucial transport link for fans to ease congestion.

It's expected to carry one in every four fans to the stadium on event days.
