Syrian refugee mansion offer stands

Andrew Forrest says his offer to house Syrian refugees in a multi-million dollar coastal mansion in Perth still stands.

It was reported in September the billionaire bought the 21-room Cottesloe landmark known as Tukura for $16 million from an 81-year-old man who had lived there for 43 years but was refusing to settle or move out as he believed he had been pressured into the sale.

The Fortescue Metals Group chairman declined to comment on the details of the sale on Thursday but told AAP his philanthropic group Minderoo had offered use of the property to authorities.

"Our executive officers have been in touch with the relevant sections of government to make that available," he said.

"I've got into this because I'd like to keep on moving."
