Storm warning for WA southeast

A severe weather warning has been issued for Western Australia's southwest with forecasts of wind gusts of more than 125km per hour.

The Bureau of Meteorology says the worst of the weather from a strong cold front will hit the coast around midday on Wednesday and extend to the Perth metropolitan area by early afternoon.

Locations which may be affected include Albany, Bunbury, Busselton, Mandurah, Manjimup, Margaret River, Mount Barker, Harvey, Lancelin, Walpole and Yanchep.

Flooding of low-lying coastal regions is also possible with the squally conditions to continue into Thursday morning.
