A man is in a stable condition in hospital after being bitten by a snake on a remote beach in WA's South West.

The man was bitten near Borunup, south of Margaret River, on Saturday afternoon.

State Emergency Service volunteers from the Augusta Margaret River unit had to drive paramedics on a track in a four-wheel-drive to stabilise the man, a Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman told AAP.

Once the man was stabilised, he was driven to the Bob Hollows Road where he was picked up by the RAC helicopter.

He was then flown 120km to Bunbury Airport, when and ambulance took him to Bunbury Regional Hospital for treatment.
