Smith a strange move for Labor: Barnett
AAP
West Australian Premier Colin Barnett says it would be "unusual and strange" for Labor to dump opposition leader Mark McGowan and replace him with former federal minister Stephen Smith.
Former WA Labor state secretary John Halden has confirmed rumours that some Labor MPs are unhappy with Mr McGowan's leadership and that Mr Smith has been sounded out.
"Stephen has had a very long career in federal politics but he is not a member of parliament and it would be a very unusual and strange situation," Mr Barnett told reporters.
