Shorten quiet on union bid for Fremantle
AAP
Opposition leader Bill Shorten has refused to be drawn on whether Labor's national executive will intervene in a militant union's bid for the seat of Fremantle.
Maritime Union of Australia organiser and the ALP's Fremantle branch president Chris Brown is seeking preselection as the Labor Party candidate for the federal seat of Fremantle vacated by Melissa Parke.
"I'm sure the Labor party will go through its processes and we'll have a once in a generation chance to bring in new blood," Mr Shorten told reporters in Perth on Thursday.
