Severe fire danger for two WA regions

Coastal and inland areas of Western Australia's Pilbara and Gascoyne regions are on severe fire danger alert.

Very hot, dry and windy conditions are expected on Saturday, prompting the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) to warn residents to stay alert, watch for signs of fire and have bushfire survival plans and kits ready.

The DFES warns any fire that starts and takes hold will be unpredictable, move very fast and be difficult to bring under control.

"If you are not prepared to the highest level, leaving bushfire risk areas early in the day is your safest option," the DFES said on Friday.

"Homes that are prepared to the highest level, have been constructed to bushfire protection levels and are actively defended may provide safety."

Those living in or near bush areas with high fuel loads have been warned they are at risk and should put fire plans into action.
