Woman fighting for life after car slams into ambulance

A 24-year-old woman is fighting for life after a collision between an ambulance and a hatchback in Perth’s north-east.

The ambulance was driving a 74-year-old woman to hospital in Dianella when police said the white Hyundai ran through a red light and slammed into its side.

The force caused the ambulance to roll onto its side.

The paramedics managed to escape the wreck and treated the elderly woman and those inside the car, including a nine-year-old girl.

She, and the 30-year-old driver, were taken to hospital in a stable condition.

The 24-year-old is in intensive care after suffering severe injuries.

The elderly patient is in a serious but stable condition.

Police have charged the 30-year-old drive with two counts and dangerous driving and she’ll appear in a bedside hearing tomorrow.
