Police have charged a seventh person with the murder of Patrick Slater, who was killed in a brawl at a Perth train station shortly after Australia Day.

The latest person to be charged is a 23-year-old Yangebup man, who joins six other people facing charges - including an 11-year-old boy.

The boy is understood to be the youngest person ever to face the charge in Australia.

Mr Slater died after he was attacked with star pickets, screwdrivers and rocks in the early hours of January 27 at Elizabeth Quay Station.

The 23-year-old was due to face Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
