Safe Schools rally planned for Perth

Gay rights advocates, teachers and students will rally in Perth in response to sweeping reductions made by the federal government to the Safe Schools Coalition.

Activists will protest changes in content to the anti-bullying program in Perth's CBD on Monday afternoon.

An independent review into Safe Schools found some of its content to be inappropriate for children, prompting the government to cut several of its key elements, which opponents say is an "attack on queer youth".

Equal Love WA spokeswoman Farida Iqbal described Canberra's decision as deplorable, saying it could drive young LGBTIQ people to suicide.
