Ex-WA parliamentary clerk faces 2016 trial

A former West Australian parliamentary clerk will stand trial next year over allegations he carried a baseball bat and disguise near his boss' home.

Nigel Lake was suspended from his duties as clerk of the Legislative Council after he was arrested on the night of February 17 in City Beach.

Lake was reportedly caught wearing a black hoodie, latex gloves, black tracksuit pants and black shoes near the home of his boss, Nigel Pratt.

Lake pleaded not guilty in June to possessing a disguise, carrying an article with intent to cause fear and unlawful use of a tracking device.

The 49-year-old is waiting to stand trial in the Perth Magistrates Court but on Tuesday was told there were no dates left for the year.

The matter was put off until October and he is now likely to face trial in 2016.

Lake was sacked from his prestigious job last week following a loss of confidence motion.
